The State Art Gallery Karlsruhe (Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe) – a neoclassical building next to the Karlsruhe Castle and the Karlsruhe Botanical Garden – is the right place for art friends.

The museum (created by architect Heinrich Hübsch) houses paintings by mainly German, French and Dutch masters from a total of eight centuries and is one of the oldest museum buildings in Germany. The Botanical Garden (Botanischer Garten) of the city of Karlsruhe is located adjacent to the building complex. 205 mostly French and Dutch paintings of the 17th and 18th-century form the basis of the collection. Today, the main building and the Orangerie feature 800 works from the Late Middle Ages up to the present day.

The museum notably displays paintings by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, August Macke, Max Pechstein,  Otto Dix, Caspar David Friedrich, Peter Paul Rubens, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin and many more.
