Schwerin is the capital and of the northern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Schwerin Castle is not only the landmark of the city, it is also the seat of the Landtag (state parliament). Another part of the castle is a museum. Due to its romantic appearance, the Schwerin Castle is also known as "Neuschwanstein of the North".
With the traditional 'Weiße Flotte' (white fleet), you can experience a trip on the Lake Schwerin (the sea has an area of 60 km²) and enjoy the unique views of the fairytale castle and the Orangerie. During the season, the ships depart daily to various voyages. The ships start from the landing stage in front of the castle. Alternativly you can charter a boat (also without a license).
