    Why Go There?

    Görlitz the easternmost town in Germany is a city with a lot to experience. With many historical attractions in conjunction with modernity it is a beautiful town to be discovered.

    The city is located on the Lusatian Neisse in Saxony, which forms there since 1945, the border with Poland. Görlitz was almost completely spared from destruction during World War II. A special feature of the city is that it got all the essential phases of the Central European urban development without major structural changes.

    The inner city is dominated by late-Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau in the old town and is now regarded as an urban entire work of art. Nowhere in Germany you can find such a density of restored monuments such as in the city on the river Neisse. 

    Görlitz has a lot to offer, you can discover treasures from more that half a millennium of European architectural history. It also has the Name "Garden & Park city", because it is amazing how historic heritage garden plants are located next to modern square designs. These parklands are very beautiful during spring and summer, when everything begins to bloom. If you want you can explore even more like sacred facilites and gorgeous courts & districts. 

    Tip: Due to its location, it is perfect for a trip to Poland. Take a short walk over the bridge "Brücke der Freundschaft" and discover another culture which is only a rock throw away.

    Amusement park

    When traveling with family and kids don't miss the Zoo in Görlitz (Tierpark Görlitz). They have very beautiful farmhouse area with regional animals. It is a nice small place which impresses with its beauty.

    Sightseeing

    A very famous sight in Görlitz is the St. Peters Church. This church is an outstanding example of a Gothic five nave hall-type church, which was built in 1423-97. In the fire 1691, the inventory was destroyed, after which the church, was refurbished in the Baroque style.

    Shopping

    The Old Town of Görlitz has a lot to offer. You can discover very lovely shops but you can also enjoy the historical flair of this beautiful town. In addition to many listed buildings, all sorts of legends have grown around the old town of Görlitz.

    Events

    Görlitz is a city with a lot of event highlights, such as theaters, festivals, concerts and unique events. A very famous event is the Europe Marathon, where in a total of nine disciplines runners, skaters, walkers and hand cyclists can compete on demanding track on the cross-border, against each other.
