National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft

The National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft is the largest national park in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommerny. The park offers a diversified lagoon landscape with a very varied flora and fauna.

About half of the area of the park is open Baltic Sea. From the peninsula Darß-Zingst up to the west coast of Rügen extends a landscape of cliffs and dunes, spits and beach lakes, which appeals to beach vacationer as well as forest lovers. The Bodden lagoons where once part of the of the sea and have been cut of by shifting land masses. The whole area is ideal for long tours guided or even individually formed walking trips. The coast and woods of the national park are . Especially the wildlife is very fascinating. You can observe wild species like red deers or wild boars.

The national park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft (national boddenlandscape) enjoys special international significance as the biggest crane's sleeping place of Europe. Every year in spring and autumn you can monitor the flight of approximately 30.000 cranes, which is a unique holiday experience. There are about nine information offices spread across the park.

The ultimate is the "Dornbusch"- 72m high over the sea and steep sloping there. You can see the westrügensche Bodden landscape and in the distance Stralsund. Enjoy a panoramic view when you climb the Dornbusch lighthouse.
