The palace is the grandest of Berlins surviving nine former royal pads concists of the main palace and two outbuildings in the lovely Schlossgarten.

The Schloss Charlottenburg was initially developed by an architect calld J. Arnold Nering in 1699. The palace was build for the wife of Kind Friedrich III, Sophie Charlotte. Following her death in 1705 the palace was named Schloss Charlottenburg, in her honor. During WWII this attraction was severely damaged and it took almost two decades to finish all the restauration works.

During Christmas one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Berlin takes place in the large open space infront of the palace.
