The Schloss Charlottenburg is definitely one of the 10 most beautiful places to visit in Berlin. A walk in the manicured park of the Palace is must on good weathered days.
Charlottenburg palace is an exquisite baroque building and one of the few remaining sites in Berlin reflecting the former splendour of the royal Hohenzollern clan. The palace is the grandest of Berlins surviving nine former royal pads concists of the main palace and two outbuildings in the lovely Schlossgarten.
The Schloss Charlottenburg was initially developed by an architect calld J. Arnold Nering in 1699. The palace was build for the wife of Kind Friedrich III, Sophie Charlotte. Following her death in 1705 the palace was named Schloss Charlottenburg, in her honor. During WWII this attraction was severely damaged and it took almost two decades to finish all the restauration works.
During Christmas one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Berlin takes place in the large open space infront of the palace.
