    How to Get There?


      Bad Homburg can be reached with the S-Bahn or a regional train via Frankfurt/Main Hbf. From the railway station a city bus (Line 5) travels several times daily to the Saalburg.

      DB BAHN

      Take the highway A 5 towards Frankfurt/Main and use the exit 17-Bad Homburger Kreuz to stay on the A 661 towards Oberursel/Bad Homburg. At the exit 1-Oberursel-Nord contrive in B 456 to Weilburg/Usingen/Saalburg. From there simply follow instructions to the Saalburg Roman Fort.

      Frankfurt/Main airport is the nearest airport to to the Saalburg Roman Fort, only about 20 minutes away by car. Take the S-Bahn S5 or S9 to Frankfurt main station and then a regional train or the S-Bahn S5 to Bad Homburg. The yourney takes about 45 minutes.

    The Saalburg Roman Fort (Römerkastell Saalburg) in Bad Homburg is a former fort of the Roman limes and an interesting excursion destination. Visitors can experience how the Roman soldiers stationed there lived.

    In the Saalburg fort – the world’s only reconstructed Roman fort – visitors have the opportunity to discover the past where history was made. Saalburg is also an archaeological museum and an internationally renowned Research Institute.

    Saalburg is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Limes (since 2005), the frontier between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribal territories. A Saaburg visit is a trip through time where everyone gets a impressive picture of the history, culture and customs of an era whose heritage, although almost two thousand years old, still shapes our world today.
