The Garden of butterflies Friedrichsruh (Garten der Schmetterlinge) is Germany's oldest butterfly garden, owned today by the von Bismarck family. It is a multi-sensory experience for young and old.

Princess Elisabeth von Bismarck founded the butterfly garden 25 years ago in the historic greenhouses of the Chancellor.

Looking for nectar, they fly between visitors from one flower to another.

Discover the palm sized 'Atlas moth' from China, which remains almost motionless in the day sleep. He is one of the largest butterflies in the world and is named after the Titan Atlas from Greek mythology. Or observe the 'Blue Morpho' from Brazil, as it majestically slides through the air.

Experience how after the mysterious metamorphosis (transformation) a colorful moth slips of the pupae cyst and starts on his first flight.

Feed the Koi karps in the 'Singing Water Garden' (Singender Wassergarten) and marvel bees and ants showcases. Have a break at the 'Cafeteria am Schlossteich' or the 'Café Vanessa'. For children there is a playground, a rabbit warren, a chinchilla family and many more.
