    How to Get There?

      The old city is in a 15 minute walk from the railway station. The bus area is located in front of the station building. Note the scoreboard! All destinations, where "City" is specified, go to the old town.

      Hamelin can be reached via the motorways A 2 in the West-East direction (Ruhr-Hannover-Berlin) and A 7 in North-South direction (Hamburg Hannover-Kassel). The P+R-parking at the train station offers a total of 200 spaces. The day ticket costs €7 (booth: 2013).

    Why Go There?

    End of November until shortly before Christmas

    Lovingly renovated half-timbered houses and unique buildings of the Weser Renaissance surround the christmas market of Hamelin. It is considered one of the most beautiful christmas markets in northern Germany.

    The Christmas market is held around the wedding House and the Marktkirche. 60 beautifully decorated wooden houses are awaiting visitors. Unique eye-catcher is the 11 metre high christmas pyramid and the giant advent calendar with christmas bells. For the younger visitors, a free children's program is offered at the christmas market Hamelin.

    The "Schaubläserei Hamelin" offers daily entertaining adventure tours. In the glassworks, the visitors experience the history and technology of glass manufacture in a glass-blowing show and can blow even their own work of art made of glass. Information: http://www.glasblaeserei-hameln.de/

    Hamelin is part of the German fairy tale route. In the whole area of the city, we encounter the "Pied Piper of Hamelin" the Brothers Grimm. The adventure tours are highly recommended.
