    How to Get There?

      Regional trains to/from Cologne running twice hourly as well as international high-speed trains from Paris and Brussels stop right at Aachen´s main train station. The Christmas market is only a 17 minute walk from the railway station.

      The bus area is located in front of the station building. Note the scoreboard! Final Destination will be Judengasse (Markt). Total journey time is 11. You have to drive with bus no 3 from central station to Schanz (Jakobsstraße). From there you can take bus no 4 to Judengasse (Markt).

    Each year anew the alleys and squares around the cathedral and city hall turn into a paradise for all senses. The Christmas village in the middle of the historic old town has become a must see for all those who love Christmas markets. Because of its unique atmosphere the market in Aachen is well known far beyond the region’s boundaries. Especially the evening view at the illuminated Cathedral and the city hall let a visit to Aachen Christmas market become an unforgettable experience.

    The tradition of the Christmas market Aachen reaches back to 1970. Much has happened since then, not only the number of visitors increased, every year more and more exhibitors share their handcrafted arts and goods. With around 1.5 visitors, including guests from Great Britain, France, Belgium and Netherlands the Christmas market is a pleasing outcome for the organisers. Which is not surprising, the Christmas market in Aachen is one of the largest and most beautiful ones in Germany.

    Tip: Try the well-known Aachen-based "Aachener Printen" (gingerbread) which is distributed from Aachen to destinations all over the world. Visitors can taste the hard or soft version, with white or dark chocolate covered Printen.

    The CHIO is a very traditional and perfect organized meeting of world-class competitors in equestrian sports. The CHIO is one of the most beautiful open-air tournaments in the world.     Sightseeing

    Appreciating the Dom and wandering the cities medieval alleys can easily fill a day. Enjoy the city while having a relaxing stroll through the streets because everything is reachable by foot.

    Hiking

    Venture onto the trails of the densely forested spa garden north of the old inner city. If you are looking for a breathtaking view over the whole city, you should take the 20-minute walk up Lousberg hill where a panoramic view of the entire city unfolds beneath you.

    Cathedral of Aachen: The official foundation stone ceremony took place at 796 after Christ. The Cathedral of Aachen is very beautiful and since 1978 it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
