Adventure Zoo Hanover

So Many Animals

Children love zoos and at the Adventure Zoo Hanover there is an unbelievable number of species. The zoo was established in 1865 and has recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Wander Around The Many Themed Spaces

There are seven different areas of the Adventure Zoo Hanover and each one has a wealth of animals that live in their own special environments. The zoo is so different that each themed area appears to be the real thing. You can wander around the African savannah in the Zambezi theme world and gaze at all the large animals like lions or giraffes. Then, take a trip down the river to see the hippos.

The Congo – Kibongo Theme

Studying the actions of the primates like the great apes and entertaining capuchin monkeys is always fascinating. You can explore the caves and marvel at the gorillas and there are indoor spaces too.

Canada – Yukon Bay Theme

Wander around the wilderness in the Yukon Bay themed area where you will see wolves, reindeer and all the other animals that live in this special environment. The  stunning harbour lies alongside the submarine world where there are displays of fish like trout and salmon and some penguins.

An Indian Jungle Paradise

The rain forest exhibit in the Jungle Palace theme has an exotic abandoned Hindu temple and is surrounded by creatures like leopards and lemurs. Don’t forget the snakes and the tigers which roam around this beautiful lifelike arena.

The Australian Outback

Displaying all the usual fascinating creatures of the Australian outback, you can also enjoy seeing colourful flocks of birds in an aviary that looks just like a pub.

Mullewapp – The Petting Zoo

For younger children and those who remain young at heart, take a stroll around the Mullewapp, a petting zoo with small animals like guinea pigs and favourites like baby goats, alpacas and sheep. During the winter months there is special classroom open for school parties where you can learn all about frogs, snakes and spiders.

The Farm – Meyers Hof

Displaying typical farm animals and birds like geese, cattle, pigs and chickens, the Meyers Hof farm themed area is located in Yukon Bay and there are several shows each day that allow you to learn all about the behaviour of animals. Watch the fantastic birds of prey swoop in the air and then make the perfect landing on their handler.
