Visit The Rabbit Valley (Hasetal)

In the North West of Germany on the Osnabrücker land up to Emsland, there is a totally unspoilt valley that stretches for many miles. Known as the Hasetal (Rabbit Valley), this is a natural habitat of bogs, forests and a large area of floodplain. A small creek runs through the valley which is inhabited by hundreds of the small furry creatures.

The source of the Hase River is at Melle in the Teutoburg Forest and the river runs for some 160 kilometres through the Artland, Oldenburg Münsterland and Meppen when it joins up with the Ems River. Home and a sanctuary for many small animals and plants, the Hasetal Valley is also an area of conservation where you can see plants and creatures that are not found anywhere else in the country.



A Bicycle Tour Of The Hasetal

Taking your bike through the region of the Hasetal is so relaxing. You can cycle alongside the beautiful Hase and Ems rivers past enormous wide open fields in an area that is truly stunning. Many people make this trip each year and many come for a rerun of their fabulous holiday.

Leisure And Outdoor Pursuits At The Hasetal

Whether you want to ride a horse or prefer canoeing down the river, you have many options at the Hasetal Valley. There is an attractive outdoor pool with wave machine and a tour of the area will reveal many other hidden gems. Romantik Hotel Aselager Mühle

The Romantik Hotel Aselager Mühle is a four star hotel situated right in the middle of the countryside and it is 8.38 kilometres from Hasetal Valley. The hotel is very welcoming and you can enjoy the superb sports facilities that consist of three indoor tennis courts, two outside courts and an indoor swimming pool. This lovely small hotel is surrounded by fields and nearby there are extensive sporting opportunities like horse riding, walking and cycling. Hotel Flora is close enough for you to easily get to the Hasetal Valley and the border with Holland is only 43 kilometres away.

Landhaus An Der Hase

Landhaus An Der Hase is accommodation that is about 9 kilometres from the Hasetal Recreation Area. It is a former farmhouse that has been beautifully renovated but still has the charm of wooden beams and brick flooring. The fully equipped farmhouse has a living room with TV, a bar area and a fully stocked bookcase.

There are three large bedrooms and the farmhouse will hold up to 6 people. Enjoy relaxing in the large garden which has its own furniture and choose a barbecue for your evening meal although the kitchen is fully equipped. This accommodation is set in extensive grounds which feature a waterfall and you are only a short distance from the village and lake.

How To Get To Hasetal Recreation Area

The beautiful Hasetal Valley is a little remote but it is worth the travelling once you get there. The nearest International airport is Münster Osnabrück.

By Air

Münster Osnabrück Airport is some 68 kilometres from the Hasetal Valley but there are excellent train and road links.

By Train

The journey by train from the airport takes around 3 hours and 25 minutes. Take a train from the Flughafen Münster/Osnabrück to Osnabrück Hbf. The journey takes 40 minutes and the trains run every hour. Then take a train to Essen (Oldenburg) Bahnhof followed by a bus to Löningen Bahnhof.

By Road

The car journey to the Hasetal Valley from Munster airport takes around 1 hour 10 minutes. Use the A1 motorway and B68 road to Löningen RSG Hasetal.



Attractions Close To The Hasetal Recreation Area

Ride The Trolley Buses At Hasetal

A ride on a trolley bus through the Hasetal Valley is interesting and exciting especially for children. The routes takes you along a disused railway line and you can soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful region.

Sightseeing In Löningen And Bremen

Looking all around the Hasetal Valley you can do your sightseeing on horseback, on a steam train or use a bicycle. In addition to the beautiful countryside you can visit the three mills in the old part of Löningen.

Bremen is another historic city that is well worth seeing when you visit the Hasetal Valley. The city is full of statues, monuments and stunning old churches and while there you an indulge in some shopping. Alternatively, take a few hours rest. Sit and enjoy a coffee and cake in the city that is packed with history and surprises.
