How To Reach Castle Diez

By Air

Frankfurt is the nearest airport to the Castle Diez. After landing you can continue your onward journey using the bus or train. The airport is 77 kilometres from Diez town.

By Train

The ICE train network covers Cologne to Frankfurt and this is the line to take to get to Castle Diez. From Frankfurt Main Hbf you take the RE 4256 to Koblenz Hbf and then change to the RE 4287 to Diez. The station is one kilometre from the castle. Tickets can be purchased online from Deutsche Bahn.

By Road

Using the motorway A3 and exiting at Limburg-Süd, the roads 54 and 417 are followed to Diez which is signposted. Parking is available at Parkstraße and at the Wilhelm-von-Nassau-Park. If you have landed at Cologne airport the same motorway A3 takes you to Diez.

The River Lahn winds its way through the valleys and there are a number of boats that offer trips along the river. See the beautiful surroundings or try an exciting trip on a raft.

Wine tasting

If you love wine why not visit the numerous vineyards that are located in the Lahn Valley. Vines have been grown here for 8 centuries and the most famous Riesling wine is one that originates from this valley. Both vineyards and wine stores sell local vintages and will encourage you to take part in some tasting.

A Winter Trip

A visit to Castle Diez in the period of the Advent means a trip to the wonderful Christmas Market at Lumburg/Lahn which is just six kilometres away. The festive atmosphere is complemented by the beautiful half timbered houses that fill the town and there are plenty of special gifts and mementos on sale.
