Dating from the 12th century, the Burg Castle was rebuilt between 1890 and 1914 using the original plans and it is perched high upon a hill above the River Wupper with a commanding appearance that has made it very popular with visitors.

How To Get To Burg Castle Solingen

By Air

Flights into Cologne, Hamburg and Düsseldorf are all available from the UK and each of these airports has good transport links to the castle. You can hire a car and drive or take your onward trip on the excellent railway system.

By Train

Inter City trains run to Solingen main train station from the main cities. From the main station there is a local train, the S7 to Solingen Mitte station and then there is a bus number 683 to Burger Bahnhof. A fifteen minute walk will take you to the castle.

By Road

The A1 motorway from Cologne takes you to exit number 96 which is signed Wermelskirchen. Then take the signs for the Schloss (castle) Burg. Parking is available at the grounds of the castle or at the start of the funicular railway which spans the River Wupper.

A bus no 683 runs from Solingen Mitte station to Burger Bahnhof. From there it is 15 minutes to walk to the castle.
