How To Get To Baldeneysee Essen

Whether you fly into Düsseldorf, are taking the train or are coming by road, the resort of Baldeneysee Essen is easy to reach.

Trains

From the town of Essen, the Deutsche Bahn line 6 takes you to the Hügel stop and you will see the lake as soon as you disembark the train. There are daily regular trains from Düsseldorf which is a 25 minute journey.

Driving

Journeying by car to Baldeneysee Essen from Düsseldorf takes about 35 minutes and the route is via the A52 motorway. Although the resort get very busy at weekends, there is some free parking available.

By Air

The nearest airport is the Düsseldorf International (DUS) and the journey time from there to the resort is around 35 to 40 minutes whether you choose to take the trip by train or by car.

Things To Do Around Baldeneysee Essen

The city of Essen has a host of different things to do and see. Ranging from a visit to a coal mine to a more sedate wander around a museum, there is a lot to enjoy when you want to see something different to the lakeside resort.

Museums And Art

The Museum Folkwang has an excellent collection of art including some famous impressionist paintings. Once inside the entry to the main collection is free. This is a recently renovated museum with both modern art and some 19th century classics. However, this is probably not recommended for small children and if you are easily offended give it a miss as there is a lot of nudity in the exhibits.



History And Ruins

The ruins of the 750 year old fortification Isenberg are situated above the lake and are an excellent choice if you love history. In addition, the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen is another interesting place if you are interested in the history of mining around the Ruhr.

Shopping Trips

The Einkaufszentrum Limbecker Platz is Essen has three levels of shopping and lots of places to eat and f you want to buy some organic clothing or food try the Native Souls Organic Fair Fashion. Finally, the close by district of Werden has some pretty medieval streets where you can wander around and buy some souvenirs.
